Highland County Public Schools will be closed today, March 15, 2023 due to road conditions in the western parts of the county.

I wanted to make everyone aware of a Shooting Education Camp opportunity this summer. Registration is now open for the 2023 4-H/NRA Shooting Education Camp held at the Holiday Lake Education Center. This year’s camp will take place Sunday, July 30th through Thursday, August 3rd. Disciplines offered will be:
· Archery
· Muzzleloading
· Pistol
· Shotgun
· Small Bore Rifle
· Air Rifle (addition for 2023)

NHS is selling ButterBraid Pastries now until February 24th. They are delicious pastries with different types of fillings. They come frozen and are easy to bake when ready to enjoy! Students will be selling by paper order forms but also online. Even if you place the order online, the student you buy from will be responsible for delivery. From May 1 through October 27, AMI sponsors a cohort of passionate individuals to learn, live, and study together on the Allegheny Farm in rural Highland County, VA. Participants live and work on a Certified Naturally Grown farm, study and practice cottage industry skills, and distribute fresh produce to a remote, but lively, Appalachian community. Fellows build a wide variety of practical farming skills through hands-on farm time and experiential learning, complemented by weekly educational and skills development sessions.
Educational scholarships to all selected Fellows includes a $1,700 monthly stipend, along with housing, farm-fresh vegetables and farm products, and a group pantry budget. Additional need-based scholarships are available for travel and gear expenses.
The Class of 2023 invites you to join them for a Valentine's Day Spaghetti Dinner tomorrow, February 11, 2023 from 4:00 - 7:00pm at the Highland High School Cafeteria. The dinner is free will donation. Hope to see you there! ♥
