Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Highland County Public Schools!

Highland County Public Schools is excited to announce the addition of School-Based Counseling Services through Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) starting in 2025!
A VCSB outpatient clinician will be on-site once a week to provide specialized counseling services for students. VCSB accepts all major insurances, including Medicaid.
To receive these services, students must complete an intake process with VCSB. Intake options include:
📅 Schedule an Intake at HCPS (January 7)
Contact Micah Ward at 540-416-3814.
📞 Schedule an Appointment at VCSB in Staunton
Call 540-887-3200 and let them know you have an HCPS student who needs school-based counseling services.
While Megan Obaugh (school counselor) and Diana Smith (school psychologist) remain available to assist students, VCSB counselors bring expertise in areas such as:
✔️ Anxiety
✔️ Depression
✔️ Self-esteem
✔️ Grief & Loss
✔️ Peer conflicts
✔️ Childhood trauma
