MONTEREY — From start to finish, the Highland girls were dominant here Tuesday night.
The Rams outscored visiting Parry McCluer 18-1 in the opening quarter on the way to a 50-23 Pioneer District junior varsity basketball victory.
Colleen Adams had a team-high 16 points for the winners, while Brooke Williams added 10 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Highland led 28-11 at the half and 43-15 after three.
“A phenomenal game tonight for my girls,” said HHS coach Cappy Jackson. “I’m incredibly proud of their progress. Tonight, it finally clicked defensively and shots were falling.”
Amelia Good had nine points for the Rams, Hannah Meyerhoeffer added seven points to four rebounds, Makynley Smith scored five points, Adelaide Baxter had two points and Daisy Moyers added one.
Presley Camden scored 11 points for Parry McCluer.
Highland lost a 35-23 decision at home to Narrows on Saturday afternoon.
Kendell Condrey had 12 points for the Green Wave and Caelyn Buracker added 10.
Narrows led 21-10 at the half.
Good scored 10 points and had five steals for Highland, Adams had 10 steals and four points, and Williams had four blocked shots. Williams, Smith and Meyerhoeffer all scored three points.
Highland’s game at Pocahontas County, W.Va. last Tuesday was postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 13.
The Rams, now 3-2 in the Pioneer and 5-3 overall, were scheduled to play at Richwood, W.Va. on Wednesday and host Craig County on Friday.
