HOT SPRINGS — The Highland junior varsity girls started quickly here last Friday night.
The Rams led 12-2 after one quarter and extended the margin to 21-5 by the half, on the way to a 35-16 victory over Bath County.
Colleen Adams scored a game-high 24 points, to go with five steals and three rebounds for the winners, while Amelia Good scored eight points, Hannah Meyerhoeffer had two points and Brooke Williams scored one and had a team-best 10 boards.
The Chargers (1-1) were paced by Macey Paxton with seven points and Bre Mabe with six. Lillian Moyers had two and Sophie Ailstock scored one.
Highland’s girls extended their win streak to three and improved to 3-1 on the year with wins over Richwood, W.Va., at home on Monday, 27-18, and at Parry McCluer on Tuesday, 25-19.
Adams scored 12 points, had seven rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Rams on Monday; Good scored 11 points and had three steals; and Meyerhoeffer had four points. Williams had four assists and another big night on the glass with 17 rebounds.
Alexxis Keiffer scored eight points for the Lady Jacks.
Tuesday night, Highland started its district schedule, winning in Buena Vista.
Adams scored 14 points and had four rebounds for the winners; Williams scored five; Good had four; and Adelaide Baxter scored two. Williams pulled in five rebounds and Good grabbed four.
Caroline Watts scored seven points for the Fighting Blues.
The Rams take a break for the holidays before returning to the court on Jan. 2, at home against Harman, W.Va.
