FRANKLIN, W.Va. — The Rams of Highland High School opened their volleyball season with a pair of matches against West Virginia schools over the last week.

Tygarts Valley topped the Rams in a four-set match in Monterey last Thursday, 25-9, 25-23, 15-25, 25-21, and Pendleton County beat Highland in straight sets on Tuesday in Franklin, 25-11, 25-8, 25-11.

In last week’s match, Colleen Adams led the hosts with three aces, two kills, two digs and a block, Jade Hotz had seven aces, Sarah Liller had four aces, and Emma Brower had a block.

Individual stats were not available for Tuesday’s match at Pendleton.

HHS (0-2) plays at Richwood, W.Va. tonight.

The Highland junior varsity team lost their opener at Pendleton on Tuesday, 25-17, 25-14.

Amelia Good had four kills and four aces for the Rams, Brooke Williams added three kills and Makynley Smith served four aces.

The Rams’ junior varsity roster includes freshman Eleanor White and eighth graders Mikhail Franklin, Amelia Good, Alexis Grant, Daisy Moyers, Hensley Neil, Aletheia Robertson, Smith and Williams.
