MONTEREY — The Highland boys got back in the win column here Monday night.

John Wagner scored 18 points, had 14 rebounds and three assists for the Rams, who took down Harman, W.Va., 67-38.

Wagner scored all his points in the opening three quarters as the hosts took a 38-24 lead at the half and expanded the margin to 30 after three stops.

Zach Armstrong hit a pair of threes in the third as the Rams outscored Harman, 21-5.

Eli Moore had 14 points for Highland, Elijah Good scored 13 and Armstrong had 12.

Moore and Good each had eight rebounds and Armstrong coupled four assists with three steals.

Grady Shifflett was a one-man show for the Panthers, scoring 31 of his team’s 38 points.

The Rams lost a pair of district games last week to the top two teams in the league.

Parry McCluer took down Highland, 84-50, last Thursday in Monterey and Narrows defended its home court on Saturday afternoon with a 79-48 victory.

In Buena Vista, the Blues, who got 24 points from J.J. Jones and 15 from Landon Catlett, took a 47-22 halftime lead.

Wagner scored 24 points and had seven rebounds for Highland, Patton Hull added eight points, Moore had seven rebounds and Armstrong handed out seven assists.

Saturday at Narrows, the Rams trailed just 33-24 at the half before being outscored 30-6 in the third period.

Kolier Pruett scored 16 of his 31 points in the third and became Narrows’ all-time leading scorer, while Levi Smith added 14 for the Green Wave, who remained unbeaten in Pioneer District play.

Hull had 14 points for the Rams, while Moore and Wagner had 12 apiece.

Highland, now 3-4 in the Pioneer District and 6-8 overall, was back at home again on Wednesday night to face Richwood. The Rams return to district play on Friday, hosting Eastern Montgomery, and Craig County visits Monterey on Monday. Last Thursday’s boxscore
