MONTEREY — The Highland girls rebounded here Friday night.
Just 24 hours after a straight-set loss to Bath County, the Rams put together 17 aces and 12 kills and scored a four-set win over visiting Tygarts Valley, W.Va., 25-13, 25-13, 24-26, 25-12.
Colleen Adams led the winners with four kills, five aces, and 22 perfect passes; Zalea Good added three kills, six aces, and 15 perfect passes; and Kylie Arbogast had four kills and seven perfect passes. Annah Moyers chipped in 19 perfect passes and a kill, Jade Hotz had six perfect passes and Emma Summers had four.
“The girls played like a team and the score showed it,” said Ram coach Beth McGuire. “They were talking, moving their feet, making great serves — especially Colleen Adams — and completing three hit plays. It felt great as their coach to see them really come alive and get pumped up.
“We brought up a player from JV — Emma Brower — and she made great plays, too,” said McGuire. “I changed the line-up a bit and they responded wonderfully.”
